Norway smokes whenever he is upset or angry. It helps him calm down.

Germany is afraid of snakes.

Whenever a leader dies or gets assassinated, the personification of that country or area is temporarily blind, representing the fact that they and their people have no clue what will be happening next.

Italy and Romano are NOT lightweights when it comes to alcohol.

Sweden used to wear a lot of flannel whenever Finland once said that it was a cool pattern.

Norway and Belarus don't smile often because to them, smiles are very valuable. They will smile around those that they care for, but not for little things that don't matter to them. So getting a smile from them is like a gift… one that you shouldn't take lightly.

Romano has nightmares multiple times a week, because of this he is a very cranky person in the morning and throughout the day takes naps whenever he can.

Ukraine likes to drink, especially with friends and with her family.

Liechtenstein can be very scary when she wants to be. Her brother did teach her to be the best that she could be so she is very good with shooting a gun and fighting though she may not look like it.

Fem!Spain loves to dance, as does Fem!Romano, Fem!Italy, Fem!Prussia, and Fem!France.

France is a vain person, but not to the point that he would marry himself.

Fem!America works as a DJ every Friday at different clubs over her country.

The countries speak their own languages around each other, but since they are all personifications and they all have people in their homes that speak different languages, they can understand it without really needing to learn the language. To the Doctor Who fans, it's like when the Tardis translates things for the Doctor and his Companions.

Sometimes England will sit outside and just think back to his past, wondering what he could've done to change his relationships with the people he is closest to to make it as best as it could be.

America has a home in each of his states, and he spends as much time as he can in each one to make sure that his children (the states) don't feel left out.

The animals of Hetalia (Finland and Sweden's dog, Japan's dog, Italy's cats, France's Pierre. And all the Gilbirds. ) are all immortal as well. They are born that way, meant to be companions to the countries, and no matter where they were born they will somehow find their way to their future owner and stay with them.

Japan has seeing problems in his right eye

Denmark loves to hang out with Germany, The Netherlands, and Russia whenever he can so that they can all drink without worrying about getting too drunk. It's a fun time for them all.

Prussia is a sweetheart underneath all that awesome bullshit. He hates it when people cry around him and he volunteers at orphanages and other places whenever he can because he wants to give back to people… whether he gets acknowledged for it or not.

America doesn't mean to be invisible to the pain of others, he just doesn't notice until it's too late.. but later on he will try as hard as he can to help them out.

Russia is terrified of dying by himself. If he ever dies, he would want to die with all his friends by his side and his sisters holding each of his hands. And his last wish would be to have his scarf cut into pieces and then have the pieces split among all his closest friends.

Switzerland is a little bit of a pyromaniac.

China is very religious, and prays each day.

Canada likes beer as much as the next guy and sometimes makes his own.

All the countries at one point had magical abilities, but over the years they lost their power except for a few of them. They refuse to admit it, fearing that they would gain their power back and use it for the wrong reasons.

France likes to plan weddings for people. So every once in a while he'll put an ad in a newspaper and once being hired, he would take care of everything and never ask for payment, just wanting to see the smiling faces of the married couple. He'll pay for everything. From the decorations to the wedding dress and cake. It's all free.

Romano used to be apart of the mafia in the southern part of Italy.

Whenever a country dies dies, like, dies for real. They are reincarnated as a human. Sorta like the universes' apology for causing them to suffer and to give them a life that they can marry, have kids, and die. It's a way to make up for the shitty life that they were given.

Italy is weak because losing HRE took all the strength that he had left.

Japan has always had a "darker' Side to him. His darker side was the side that showed up during all of the wars, or when Japan took on extreme pain (physical or mental), due to the fact that Japan just can't handle it alone. It would take the lethal damage and it also mercilessly killed thousands of people in Japan's place. Japan always hated his darker side, so after WWII, he has been trying to hold back that side of him, and sword to himself that he will never call him out again. He has not told a single soul about this. But his greatest fear is that his darker side will emerge and hurt the people he cares for the most.

England is left-handed, as is Ukraine, Greece, Finland, and HRE.

Romano and Germany are the best of friends when drunk.

Ivan is pronounced "ee-vahn" not "eye-vahn". Whenever America or someone else gets it wrong, Russia gets irritated and tells them calmly that it's not pronounced that way. But most of all, Ivan is not ashamed to share his name with Ivan the Terrible. Because at one point in time, Ivan the Terrible was Ivan the Great.

China wears clothes with long sleeves and necks because he is the oldest nation, and so he has been in the most wars resulting in the most scars on his body.

Prussia has only one phobia ; Mephobia: the fear of becoming so awesomet hat the human race can't handle it and everyone dies.

The nations can have children with humans but they are almost always sickly and it is rare for them to live past the age of 13.


Fem!Italy was a complete tomboy as a child. She wouldn't hesitate to pick fights, climb trees, run through fields and act like a boy as much as possible. Fem!HRE was the delicate girly one. Everytime Fem!Italy got hurt, she was the one to take care of her.

Although the nations are unable to teleport to other countries. Inside their own borders, they can be anywhere they want to be in the blink of an eye. They are a part of the land after all.

On Christmas 1941 during WWI, a ceasefire known as the Christmas Truce occurred between German and British soldiers on the Western Front. On December 24 there was an unofficial ceasefire between German and British troops. The German soldiers started decorating their trenches, singing Christmas carols while the British starting singing carols of their own and the two sides started to wish the other a happy Christmas. They ventured into no man's land (The area between the trenches) and started exchanging small gifts like food, tobacco, and alcohol. Some soldiers started a football game, which men from both sides joined. The troops collected their dead and they held a joint burial service. The Christmas Truce is seen as a brief moment of peace and humanity from one of the World's most violent wars and every year (Including Christmases during WWII) England and Germany get together to play a game of football to commemorate the event.

Romano is a great poker player.

Canada is an even bigger asshole than his brother.

Though Latvia may look innocent, he is almost as bad as Russia, if not moreso.

Canada likes to troll the other nations by taking their phones and changing their
ringtones to Canadian Please.

Nations who have been dissolved will continue to exist if another nation truly loves them. This explains why Prussia is still around due to Hungary and how Holy Rome exists as Germany because of Italy.
